Game 1 – Metal Gear Solid V : The Phantom Pain

Metal Gear Solid V in an open world stealth game that was released by Konami in September 2015. The game is built around the idea of stealth and I believe that it is built more for a PC than consoles I think that PC’s have more movement and camera controls than consoles. This game is intended for adults as it contains violence. The design of the game is quite simple as you have to complete an objective without being seen. I don’t think that the hardware impacted the design as the game could be played with limited controls. The visuals of the game are great, as the game was made for Next Generation consoles and PC.

Game 2 – Grand Theft Auto 5

Grand Theft Auto 5 is an open world game released by Rockstar Games in 2013. The game was built around the controllers of the Xbox 360 and the Playstation 3. This means that a certain action that could be done in the game had to be assigned to a certain control. This game is intended for adults as it contains violence, swearing and sexual content. The design of the game is quite complex as the fictional city of Los Santos is based on the real city of Los Angeles. I believe that the hardware didn’t have a massive impact on the design. The visuals in the game are amazing, especially on Next Generation consoles and PC as everything looks so realistic and the finish on everything in the game is stunning. The game mechanics are great as every button does what it is supposed to do. On the PC version of Grand Theft Auto 5 mods make the game better as you can add new things to the game such as new vehicles and character models and even  maps. You can’t do this on the console version because it would be too difficult to edit the code.

Game 3 – Pokemon GO

Pokemon GO is a mobile game that was released by Niantic in 2016. The game was based on the use of the touch screen and the camera of the device. The touch screen was used to capture the Pokemon and the camera was used to show the Pokemon in real life. This game didn’t really have any controls apart from the users hand. The game was intended for children and teenagers but it was used by a range of people from different age groups as the game encouraged you to go out and explore the world. The design of the game was quite simple which made the game easier to understand. The visuals are very good as the developers took 2D creatures from a TV show and made them 3D in the real world. The game performed very well as the screen wasn’t cluttered with too many things.
